THE ROAD TRIP BLOG

On May 28th, Michael Tucker, Max Chou, Blake Staley, and Nick Whelton will set out on an adventure, a cross-country road trip they've been planning for years.

So far.

In Houston, we skydived. That morning, we headed out around 7. We got there and waited. And waited. And waited. Oh..and we waited a little more! Around 1 we finally heard our group called on the loudspeaker, suited up, and went up in the plane. At about 14,000 feet, we were ready to jump. I, Michael, went first. Looking half-retarded because of my instructors instructions, I made the jump. We back flipped out of the plane and flew head-first through the atmosphere for the group. At about 6,000 feet, I pulled my chute. Not much went through my mind, other than, “What am I doing?!” and “I just jumped out of a plane!”. My brothers in Christ, Blake and Nick, went after me. Blake jumped and “nearly pooped his pants”…then Nick nervously fell out of the plane. All three of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was amazing, exhilarating, indescribable.

After our Houston journey, we made our way to the Carlsbad Caverns. After a 12 hour drive through the night, at around 2 in the morning we found a random hotel just about 30 minutes away from the caverns. The next morning we checked them out and they were gorgeous, to say the least. They were humongous. They were dark and cold and something you have to see before you die.

After that, we made another 12 hour drive to Joshua Tree National Park in Cali, just two hours away from LA. We got there around 1 in the morning, and woke up to realize we were surrounded by huge orange boulders on every side. It was a majestic experience and something of a great memory. We tried to find a body of water, but unfortunately failed after a bit of a drive and hike.

Ahead of schedule, we made way to Los Angeles. We arrived at Santa Monica, checked out the pier, and the beach of course. We loved the beach and met some friends along the way. After sleeping at my Aunt and Uncle’s we headed out to Malibu to surf. While Max, Blake, and Nick were surfing, I took some pictures. After that we headed to Warner Brothers Studio and saw a bunch of cool studios and stuff.

I know that’s not nearly enough to describe what’s been going on, but frankly I’m practically dead right now and you can ask me all about this stuff in person/text/whatever. We’ve met plenty of cool people along the way, including “Cross Carrier Chuck”! Look him up, he’s pretty interesting.

Anyway, I’ll be posting pictures and videos and stuff later…Peace!
